Jake Ohio

Jake Ohio (of Pyro, Ohio) is back! (and Ian Scene is sick with allergies, so don’t believe what the meds make him say in this episode…)

After a few months away, the legendary co-host returns for a long-overdue reunion episode, and it's like he never left. Ian and Jake catch up on everything that's happened since the break, from weddings and new setups to World Cup madness, USA!, and the beautiful chaos that only this duo can create.

Of course, they dive into the Scene as well, discussing Warped Tour, From First to Last's new era, Caleb Shomo's non-music headline, Senses Fail drama, THERAPY IS FOR WOMEN (🤪), and plenty of the unfiltered opinions you may have come to expect.

No scripts. No reviews. Just two old friends getting back behind the microphones and reminding everyone why they ended as the best in the Scene 🤘

The sequel has arrived…Are you prepared?

SCENE UP, BITCHES 🤘

Paddock Park is back, and Brian Williams joins Ian's Untitled Scene Show to tell the full story for the first time 🤘

In this episode, Brian dives deep into the origins of Paddock Park, from the band's early days in the Florida scene and connections to A Day To Remember to the creation of A Hiding Place for Fake Friends and the unexpected events that led to his removal from his own band. Along the way, he shares never-before-heard stories about MySpace-era promotion, touring, record deals, and the realities of navigating the scene as a young musician.

Brian also discusses his decision to bring Paddock Park back with Tragic Hero nearly two decades later, his remarkable personal transformation, and what fans can expect from the band's future. For longtime scene fans, this is a fascinating look behind one of the era's most beloved underground releases 🤘

Light The Fire - Andrew, Blake, and Seth - Ian's Untitled Scene Show
Ian Scene

After what felt like nearly a decade, Light The Fire finally joins me on Ian's Untitled Scene Show 🤘

Seth, Andrew, and Blake stop by for a long-overdue conversation that somehow manages to be equal parts Scene history lesson, therapy session, and fun hangout.

We dive into the band's evolution from the early days through lineup changes, the unexpected way Seth ended up stepping into the frontman role, and how what could have been a disaster actually became the version of Light The Fire fans know today. We also get into ‘Death Won't Be The End Of Me’ (Parts 1 and 2), its long journey through pandemic delays, independent releases, recording with Beau Burchell of Saosin, and how the entire album slowly transformed into something much bigger than originally planned.

We also talk about songwriting, blending melodic hardcore and metalcore influences, collaborating as a full unit, the emotional weight behind some of the material, and why some songs hit a little harder than others. Along the way, we get into old school Scene energy, touring stories, features with Mike from No Bragging Rights and Sean from Decayer, shots on stage, and maybe even expose some secrets the band had been hiding all along…

There are laughs, some honest moments, and a few stories I definitely did not expect going into this one.

Light The Fire finally made it onto the show, and this conversation was worth every year of waiting 🤘

Zak Howe returns to Ian’s Untitled Scene Show for the third time, and turns out, this might be the most honest (and most fun) conversation yet 🤘

Zak opens up about sobriety, leaving OBE, creative burnout, starting over, and the formation of his new band, Foolish Things!

We also dive deep into the upcoming self-titled Foolish Things album, the band’s heavier direction, Dallas Scene history, touring, modern pop-punk frustrations, and unhinged side conversations we love to travel.

I don’t want to give anything away because I know you’re going to enjoy this conversation. If you’ve followed Zak’s journey over the years, this is the episode where everything finally connects. If you haven’t, then it’s time to meet one of your new favorites 🤘

157frq - Jack Regent - Ian's Untitled Scene Show
Ian Scene

On this episode of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, I’m joined by Jack of 157frq, and it’s another episode that has been a long time coming 🤘

We get into A World I Was Never A Part Of, and this is not your typical surface-level album chat. This record came from years of grinding, real-life experiences, and finally putting something out that’s completely his. No chasing trends, no playing the game. Just raw, honest music that clearly hit harder than even he expected.

Jack opens up about where that comes from, too. We talk about growing up, dealing with isolation and bullying, and how those experiences shaped both the sound and the message behind the album. There’s a lot here about mental health, self-destruction, and trying to figure yourself out when you didn’t even think you’d make it this far.

We also get into how the album actually came together, including the moment he realized he finally found the sound, plus some behind-the-scenes on specific tracks that you’ll definitely hear differently after this.

We also go into past bands, internet nonsense, and some real talk about how people interact with music and each other now.

This one’s real. If you’ve connected with the album at all, you’re going to want to hear this conversation, and if you haven’t listened yet, now is the time 🤘

Sydney - Jay Jensen and Scott Sanderson - Ian's Untitled Scene Show
Ian Scene

This one’s been a long time coming 🤘

After 20 years, I finally sat down with Scott and Jay from one of my favorites, Sydney!

We get into everything. The full original lineup is somehow back together after all this time, what actually led to the band calling it quits back in 2009, and how much of it had to do with the Scene shifting versus label pressure and just straight up bad timing. There’s some real honesty about their second record not landing the way they wanted, and what it feels like to watch the sound you built your band on start getting passed by something heavier.

We also talk about the return, including the very “Sydney” move of coming back after two decades with a minute-and-a-half punk jam for no real reason at all… which, of course, has a deeper story behind it than you’d expect.

There’s a ton of Scene talk in here, too. Touring stories, how fast things changed in the mid-2000s, getting compared to bands they weren’t even trying to sound like, and what they were actually listening to when they wrote that first record. You may be surprised…

If you were there for this era, you’re going to feel this one. If you weren’t, this is one of those conversations that explains why it still matters. Funeral For A Friend is even mentioned!

Sydney is back 🤘

Torn Open - Sofia DeMasi - Ian's Untitled Scene Show
Ian Scene

On this episode of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, I sit down with Sofia DeMasi from Torn Open right as they gear up to drop Torn the Fuck Open, Vol. 2 (through Blue Grape Music) and go out on tour THIS FRIDAY!

We get into the chaos behind the new release, locking in the real Torn Open lineup, and why Volume 2 hits harder, tighter, and way more cohesive than anything they’ve done before. Sofia breaks down her jump from drummer to frontwoman, the trial-by-fire approach to learning harsh vocals, and the real struggle of keeping your voice alive when you’re pushing it to the limit.

We also get into touring madness, band chemistry that somehow doesn’t implode in hotel rooms (and hopefully not in a van), and a refreshingly honest take on where deathcore is right now…including a few opinions that some of you may not agree with (tune in and find out) 🤘

It’s fun, it’s chaotic, it’s honest… and yeah, this is exactly why long-form conversations still matter 🤘

Note: I realized that Bayside isn’t really Long Island. I meant West Babylon. As Staind once said, it’s been a while 🤘

LEVELS - Jager Felice - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

LEVELS - Jager Felice - Ian's Untitled Scene Show
Ian Scene

On this new Conversation Edition of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, I’m joined by Jager of LEVELS! We talk about the upcoming album This Will Make You Feel Again dropping April 10 on SharpTone Records, how the band has evolved from the self-titled and PULSE era into something way more electronic, groove-driven, and actually intentional, and why this feels like the first time LEVELS really sound like the band they were supposed to be all along. Jager is also just a really interesting guy to talk to, so instead of canned answers, we get into influences, writing philosophy, lineup changes, the Arkansas scene, and what it’s like trying to build a band when you’re not from a main Scene city.

From there, we go full music-nerd, full scene talk, full rant mode activated. We get into writing songs around synths and atmosphere instead of just chugging for the sake of chugging, why groove matters more than technical flexing, why so many bands right now sound the same, and why live shows have started to feel like watching people stand in front of their own backing tracks. We also talk touring, the weird middle ground LEVELS is in right now, where they sound like they should already be playing bigger stages but still have to grind like a newer band, and what it actually takes to stand out in a scene that constantly says it wants something different but keeps rewarding the same thing over and over. This is a really fun conversation with a really thoughtful guest, and definitely one of those conversations where you can tell the band isn’t just throwing songs at the wall and hoping TikTok picks one 🤘

Convictions - Mike Felker Is Back - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

Convictions - Mike Felker Is Back - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

Convictions - Mike Felker Is Back - Ian's Untitled Scene Show
Ian Scene

Mike Felker of Convictions is back on Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, and this one is a little different than usual. Instead of the studio, this episode was recorded live in my car outside Come and Take It Live in Austin right before their show with Wolves At The Gate, which made the whole conversation feel much more in-the-moment and exactly the kind of thing this podcast was made for (with minimal sound issues).

Mike and I catch up on everything that’s happened since the last time he was on the show, going even farther back than the I Won’t Survive era when Convictions had just gone independent after their time on InVogue, and how things have changed now that the band is touring behind The Fear of God. We talk about what life is really like as a DIY band in 2026, balancing touring, teaching vocals, songwriting work, and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes into keeping a band alive when you’re not relying on a label to do it for you.

We also discuss lineup changes over the last few years, how the current version of Convictions came together, why the band is comfortable touring without a bassist, and how the writing process for The Fear of God pushed things heavier while still keeping the emotional side that the band has always had. Mike talks about experimenting more with production, adding different sounds without losing what makes the band feel real, and why he still wants the live show to sound like a live band, not just a wall of tracks.

From there, we get into one of those classic IUSS conversations about the metalcore scene, how some of the older MySpace-era influences seem to be coming back around, and why it’s interesting to see younger bands picking up sounds that never really went away for Convictions. We also talk about touring with Wolves At The Gate and Demon Hunter, and how being on the road with bands that have been doing this for years can turn into more life conversations than music.

We finish up talking about the deluxe version of The Fear of God, the extra songs that got added later, new material that’s already being worked on, and what the future could look like for Convictions as they keep building without slowing down.

And after seeing the show live that night, I can say this for sure: if this tour is coming anywhere near you, go see Wolves At The Gate and Convictions. Both bands sounded huge, the energy was there the whole night, and this lineup is definitely worth showing up early for 🤘

I finally sit down with Joshua Calhoun of Whether, I to talk Dreamcatcher in 2013, signing to InVogue, rewriting Catalyst, bringing in features like Johnny Craig and Myka, Relocate, touring nonstop while working full-time jobs, and how label contracts, lineup shifts, and real life hits led to the band calling it quits in 2016.

Then we get into the Whether, I resurrection. Moving On in 2021. Building toward Good Enough. The raw emotion behind Goodbye. The old school dual-vocalist chaos and growing up without losing the heavy.

In this Conversation Edition of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, Ian welcomes back returning friend of the show Al Boltz, known for his work in Turtle Tea Party, XO Goodbye, ASLW, and beyond, for a wide-ranging and honest conversation that blends real life, music history, and Scene nostalgia.

The episode opens with candid discussion about recent health struggles, recovery, and the challenge of staying creative through difficult stretches before shifting into deeper talk about songwriting inspiration, the evolution of Turtle Tea Party, and how different projects emerge from distinct emotional and musical spaces.

Ian and Al also reflect on early MySpace-era influences, underground post-hardcore culture, long-held demos finally seeing release, and the surreal full-circle moments that come with collaborating with longtime inspirations. The conversation expands into touring memories, photography, travel in Japan, and the realities of surviving as an independent artist in today’s music landscape.

It’s reflective, personal, and deeply rooted in the Scene spirit that defines the Conversation Editions.

Ian Scene

Welcome to a sad day for Ian’s Untitled Scene Show. The dreaded day has arrived. As announced a couple of weeks ago, this is Jake Ohio’s officially unofficial final episode. Yes, Jake of Mind The Drive and Pyro, Ohio. But don’t get it twisted, this is still a full episode, not a funeral.

The guys kick things off with some classic banter before diving into Scene Grammy talk, which honestly doesn’t take long since the Grammys hate our music and we hate them right back. From there, it’s business as usual with a Radke Roundup, Breakdown From The Past, and a full slate of Scene Reviews!

This week’s reviews include
• Trash Boat
• Our Mirage
• Cold Blood AU
• As The Structure Fails

There are also thoughts on Tommy Vext, formerly of Bad Wolves (dumb), plenty of Scene jokes, and a real, honest conversation about mental health to close things out. We’re all going to miss Jake, so make sure you soak in every second of this episode.

Real talk. Scene honesty. Zero filter.

Welcome to a VERY cold episode of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show!

Ian and Jake of Mind The Drive and Pyro, Ohio, bundle up, chatter their teeth, and attempt to survive the weather long enough to bring you all the Scene news you need to stay warm.

Naturally, the episode kicks off with elite-tier weather banter because nothing screams Scene like complaining about the cold. From there, the guys dive headfirst into a packed episode featuring a major Radke Roundup, The Bunny The Bear jumping on the Ian Scene bandwagon again, and plenty of classic tangents along the way.

Then it’s time for Scene Reviews, including releases from:

And just when you think the episode is done, the guys drop a major announcement that will affect the show moving forward…

🎙️ Ian’s Untitled Scene Show 🎙️

Ian’s Untitled Scene Show returns once again with Ian and Jake of Pyro, Ohio, and Mind The Drive, and the Scene discussions are heavy this week.

The guys dig into Avenged Sevenfold’s current view of their music and why it’s mostly misguided and self-indulgent. They also tackle the unexpected return of Austin Carlile after nearly nine years, bringing honest discussion, context, and strong opinions for something the Scene definitely doesn’t need in 2026.

Of course, it would not be an IUSS episode without banter, tangents, and real Scene talk. Along the way, the guys highlight a great week of new releases with in-depth reviews of:

I Promised The World
The Funeral Portrait
Ov Sulfer
Ghost Kill
Repriever

There’s a lot to unpack this week, a lot to debate, and a lot of Scene worth talking about. You should probably stop reading and start listening.

2026 starts loud 🤘

Welcome to the first episode of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show of 2026, with Jake of Pyro, Ohio / Mind The Drive back in the co-host chair where he belongs.

  • AI music and why it still sucks

  • Upcoming releases you should actually care about

  • A full review of the new Paleface Swiss EP

Think it’s a “slow news” episode? You’d be very, very wrong.
Same honesty. Same chaos. Same Scene you trust.

Hit play and start the year the right way.

🚨 THE FINAL SCENE OF 2025 🚨

Welcome to the last episode of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show of 2025 🤘
Jake of Pyro, Ohio (???) joins Ian once again, and yes, there might be a big announcement that could rock the Scene straight to its metal…core (We’re not apologizing for that joke)

With the Scene unusually quiet for the holidays, Ian and Jake let the banter breathe on this one. It’s loose, unstructured, and exactly what a year-ender should be. Ian breaks in the new studio, Jake is still podcasting with a broken computer, and together they wrap up 2025 the only way they know how…honestly.

Time to get Scene huge in 2026.

HOW TO PODCAST, VOL. 15 (END OF 2025) Feat Jake of Pyro, Ohio - Ian's Untitled Scene Show
Ian Scene

Welcome to the END-OF-THE-YEAR (kind of) / BEST OF 2025 (maybe??) episode of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show, featuring Jake Ohio of Pyro, Ohio, because this year demanded chaos, honesty, and zero filters.

Ian and Jake recap 2025 by highlighting the best releases of the year, and no, this is not a lazy Top 10 list like a Scene poser would do. This is over 100 AMAZING RELEASES worth your time. Because the Scene is deeper than whatever the algorithm, TikTok, or certain YouTube personalities say it is 🤘

They don’t just like what the Scene says is “popular” (cough cough Nik 👀). They like what’s actually good. And since honesty is kind of their whole thing, you’ll also get the WORST of 2025, because some releases absolutely earned the title!

Oh — and yes — Nik’s sham “awards” show takes its annual beating:
Will it be Sleep Token?
Will it be Bad Omens?
😴😴😴

There’s a LOT to talk about, because no matter how rough, weird, or downright shitty 2025 may have been, it also delivered incredible bands and killer releases that deserve to be promoted and celebrated properly!

And let’s be honest — Ian and Jake are the only ones you should trust to do it 🤘

Still original.

Still honest.

Still the Scene.
