The Word Alive - Telle Smith - Ian's Untitled Scene Show

Things are always changing and the scene is no different, but what always stays the same is speaking with extremely talented musicians. I had the opportunity to do just that once again with Telle Smith of The Word Alive, but this time, it was in-person and live backstage at House of Blues in Boston!

Telle and I talk about everything music, including Telle’s stints with In Fear and Faith and Greeley Estates, new The Word Alive, touring during the holidays, but also some past stories about Telle (and Ian) that you might not know from when they dealt with bullying, and much more. Surprise guests, weird sounds, and surprises are all part of live recording, so just be aware this was not recorded in a studio!

The Plot In You - Landon Tewers - Ian Hates Music #226

It’s a very cool episode of Ian Hates Conversations: Music Edition as Landon Tewers joins Ian in the Ian Hates “Studio”! (There’s a lot of ‘Ian’ in that sentence and I apologize).

At the time of this recording, Landon is finishing up his solo tour co-headlining with Ghost Atlas. If you’re not familiar with Landon Tewers, he has his solo work, projects like Ai640, writing and producing bands, AND he’s the lead vocalist of The Plot In You. Oh yeah, he’s also one of the most talented and versatile vocalists out there!

Let’s not give too much away in the description of the episode though. Ian and Landon talk in person about everything going on in Landon’s life, new tours, new music, and possible plans for the future.

Ian will normally remove background and strange noises from conversation episodes, but it didn’t feel necessary for this since it’s just two people face to face in the same room. Hope you enjoy!

Anyway, Ian loves Warped Tour and this was the first year he was able to do in-person Warped Tour interviews! All interviews took place at the Mansfield date of Warped Tour on July 27th at the Xfinity Center. Ian was also not told what interviews he had until he showed up at the venue. But, to be brief, festival interviews are much different than what Ian normally does on Ian Hates Conversations. Everyone is put in one room. Everyone is talking at the same time. You're in a rush, both interviewer and band because you have a time limit and set times to get to. AND, there are bands playing right outside the room! Haha. The only reason you need to know all this is to, of course, set the mood, but also so you realize why these are live, raw, and unedited!

Welcome everyone to the Ian Hates Warped Tour Conversations!

I know it's not summer anymore and that means the touring Warped Tour has ended (perhaps forever), but hey, it takes a while to get these episodes out, haha. Also, why put out Warped Tour material when everyone else was doing it at the same time? Not talking about Warped Tour all the time helps you miss it! Distance makes the heart grow stronger or something else emo like that...

Anyway, Ian loves Warped Tour and this was the first year he was able to do in-person Warped Tour interviews! All interviews took place at the Mansfield date of Warped Tour on July 27th at the Xfinity Center. Ian was also not told what interviews he had until he showed up at the venue. That brought a lot of excitement, haha. For more information, you can listen to the Ian Hates Warped Tour Recap Special. It's time for a very cool Ian Hates Conversations: Music Edition featuring the lead vocalists of Saving Vice, Tyler Small and Chase Papariello!

It's a really exciting time for Saving Vice as their debut EP 'Colder Than Dark' came out recently, they're playing the Massachusetts date of Warped Tour, and it was just announced that they'll be playing the main stage of iMatter Festival in August!

Tyler and Chase go over what the dynamic is like for them playing live, the dual vocalist stigma in Metalcore, and a whole lot more! You won't want to miss this!

In fact, this is such a good conversation, it's only Part 1! Brief warning though, as you'll hear in the conversation, there are some phone issues. For one, there are a couple (and I mean only a couple) weird sounds at the beginning of the call, but, there's also an issue where when Ian talks, Chase and Tyler's side sounds "underwater" for a couple seconds. This is a very strange phenomenon, which has only happened once or twice in the history of Ian Hates. It's addressed during the conversation early, and Ian tries to not chime in as much, but that changes the timing of a "normal" conversation. So, for Part 2, Ian and Saving Vice are going to speak LIVE at Warped Tour! So check out Part 1 now and Part 2 will be on its' way shortly!
